We focus our energy and action locally while recognizing the broader global context that shapes our challenges and opportunities. We actively work to dismantle systemic inequities, especially those that impact our community members who have been most marginalized historically. We stand with people of color, women, the LGBTQIA+ community, disabled people, low income people, unhoused people, immigrants, the elderly and children. We advocate for policies and practices that advance equity and sustainability in East Providence and beyond.
Housing is a human right. Everyone deserves a clean, safe, and affordable home. EPiC supports increasing housing availability in East Providence through creative and inclusive solutions, including the construction of workforce, affordable, and senior housing, as well as the adaptive reuse of vacant commercial and industrial buildings. We also advocate for accessory dwelling units (ADUs) to expand housing options. Our message is simple: there is room for everyone in our community.
Street congestion and car dominance are pressing issues. We envision streets that work for everyone. EPiC supports smart adaptations to our streetscape, including more bicycle lanes, improved sidewalks, and enhanced RIPTA access, to ensure safe and efficient movement for all. Reducing car travel benefits not only the environment but also our quality of life by fostering healthier, more connected communities.
East Providence's waterfront identity isn't just geography — it's our responsibility. These shorelines demand we become environmental champions. EPiC is committed to preserving and enhancing our natural resources, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and advocating for policies that protect our waterways and green spaces. A sustainable future for East Providence requires bold action on climate and environmental justice.
Public education is the cornerstone of a thriving society. EPiC champions fully funded, equitable, and inclusive public schools in East Providence. We advocate for resources and reforms that ensure every student—regardless of race, ability, gender, immigration status or identity — receives an education that prepares them to lead fulfilling lives. Our vision includes schools that are welcoming, innovative, and capable of meeting the needs of all students.
EPiC is dedicated to fostering a community where everyone can thrive. This means creating vibrant public spaces that encourage connection, supporting local arts and culture, and advocating for policies that strengthen the social and economic fabric of East Providence. By addressing food and housing insecurity, supporting small businesses, and prioritizing equity, we aim to build a city that reflects the best of its people.
Together, we can create a future where East Providence is a model of sustainability, equity, and community spirit.
